This past Sunday I went to the Verizon Center in Washington, DC to take in my first live WNBA game. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of people in attendance.
Since I’m a big fan of Maya Moore and the defending world champs from Minnesota, I was disappointed at what was going down on the court. The Lynx looked lethargic and the Mystics were on fire!
Minnesota was down by twenty points in the first quarter alone. Twenty points! It was a one-sided affair and I didn’t expect that. If anything, I thought it’d be the other way around. The Lynx would be running the show. Not this day!
Nevertheless, me and my friend Jen enjoyed the whole experience. There was plenty of father/daughter dates going on. There was also a team of young hoopsters who were dancing and carrying on and totally into the game.
I loved how the Mystics kept their fans engaged in the game the entire time. And I’m also a big fan of the music they play at these games. It’s the kind that makes the kids want to dance and some adults too.
So in the end, I was pumped to be at this game. The Mystics sailed away with the victory, 87-63, handing the Lynx their second consecutive loss of the season.
