Since before the Olympics I have held on to this story in my draft folder. Why? There has been so much excitement and promise in female athletics. Things seemed better than ever. And I didn’t want to spoil it.
But you’ve heard the saying, the truth hurts, so let me hit you with it now. In this quick clip from espnW they go over a scathing report on gender leadership in the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is worth watching.
Basically it says that the IOC lacks leadership in the female categories giving them a miserable F on it’s report card.
Why does this matter? So many reasons, if more and more girls are playing sports, then they are likely not getting their voices heard by the same gender. Imagine a male trying to represent a female perspective? I don’t see that happening.
Hopefully the IOC takes note. Here’s to more leadership roles being taken on by qualified women!
