We are hoping that Candace Parker is basking in the glorious Los Angeles sun right about now. After a well-deserved and thrilling victory against the Minnesota Lynx- the reigning champions- Parker was named the WNBA Finals MVP.
With the series tied up, the last game was a must win for both teams and it was every bit of a nail-biter. It wasn’t looking good for the Sparks at the very end until they took the lead with just three seconds in a 77-76 win.
This championship is Parker’s first. The two-time MVP told the WNBA before the game “My rookie season I thought I would be in this situation at least four of five times by now.”
As we know, things don’t always go as planned. It took Parker and company nearly a decade for this feat to come true.
