Marlen Esparza is used to breaking down barriers. The first US woman to represent her country in boxing and come away with a medal is at it again. Only this time, she is coming in to a ring with all of the men.
Last week, Marlen signed with Oscar De La Hoya’s promotional company, Golden Boy Promotions. She is the first female to do so.
“I recently told my fans that I was going pro, and I am happy to announce that it will be the world’s best promotional company – Golden Boy Promotions,” Esparza said. “I am excited to get back into the ring as soon as possible and start climbing the ladder towards winning a professional world title.”
This Houston based fighter has had her share of success. She won a bronze medal as a flyweight in the Olympics in 2012 and also won the amateur World Championship in 2012. She has also made a name for herself with key endorsements from CoverGirl and CocaCola.
Signing with Golden Boy is another crucial step in her career and we can’t wait to see what 2017 brings. Go get it, Marlen!
